Why you abandon every app (and what an ADHD app should actually do)
You download it. You spend two hours setting everything up. You use it for three days. Then nothing, and one more small feeling of having "failed again".
If that's you, it isn't a lack of willpower. In conversations among people with ADHD, the same complaints come up again and again, and they almost never point at the person. They point at how the apps are built.
What drives people away
- Streaks you must not break. You miss a day and the app tells you to "start again from zero". One person described losing a streak of almost a year and never wanting to open the app again. A penalty for having a life isn't motivation.
- Red counters. "Overdue" tasks pile up until they give you anxiety instead of the urge to act.
- Too many options. When an app lets you build everything, you end up building the app instead of doing what you wanted to do.
- Subscriptions you forget. Forgetting to cancel is practically part of ADHD. Surprise charges are the fastest way to lose trust.
- Accusing notifications. "You haven't opened the app in 3 days!" Thanks, we knew.
What a good app should do instead
- Start in one second, with no account and no setup.
- Never punish you for disappearing for a few days. You come back, it picks up.
- Do one thing and do it simply, instead of trying to run your whole life.
- Be clear about the price and easy to stop.
- Respect your data: you shouldn't need to ship everything to a server just to note a feeling.
Why we built Tdhappi this way
Tdhappi has no account and no streak. The "I feel something" button is the first thing you see. Your entries stay on your phone. If you want AI help to break down a task that's blocking you or to spot your patterns, that's a Premium option: in that case the text you write is sent to an AI service to be analysed, and nothing else. You can stop whenever you like from your customer area. And we'd rather say it plainly: it isn't therapy. It's a notebook that helps you see more clearly.
A small tool for these moments
Try it, forget about it for a week, come back. It will be there, with no reproach.
The app works in English and French, and runs in your browser or as an app on your phone. Emotion tracking is free, with no account. The AI features (breaking a task down, spotting your patterns) are Premium: €3.99 per month or €29.99 per year, cancel any time.
